Competition 4: British Schools

You can compete individually and as a school team.

Make sure you are affiliated with BSGA.

Competitions

Round 1: Regional (South East)

Round 2: Zonal (Southern)

Round 3: National Finals

Who can compete?

Full-time student under 19.

Home educated, not attending an educational institution and approved by the Local Authority.

Progression

Regional top 5 individuals and top 2 teams.

Disability top 1 team.

Zonal team qualifiers can’t compete in the individual unless they qualified in the individual.

Team places can be swapped.

Individual places can’t be swapped.

Trampolines

6x6mm, 6x4mm or 4x4mm.

But others similar may be used.

Clothes

School PE kit. Plain white socks.

Advanced and Elite must follow British Gymnastics attire. Leotard.

There are 4 non-disabled levels.

Once you have competed in a level, you can’t move down.

Routines

Each person will compete in 2 routines of 10 skills.

Each level is split by age group and gender.

Scoring

Execution, travel and difficulty will be used in all categories.

Time of Flight for Advanced and Elite.

Teams

3-4 people in the same school, level, age and gender group.

All team members must be in the same age group.

Age groups

Year 1-6

Year 7-9

Year 10-14

Those held back a year are matched by their age to year group.

Novice

Second:

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

No more than 1 skill, more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit of 1.6.

Intermediate

Second:

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

No more than 4 skills, more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit of 3.0.

Advanced

First:

At least 2 skills having 360° of somersault rotation.

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

Second:

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

No more than 7 skills, more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit of 4.5.

Elite

First:

At least 5 different skills with
a minimum of 360° rotation.

Second:

No difficulty limit.

Coaches must be qualified
for the skills.

There are 3 disability levels.

Each level has 2 categories:

Category 1 – Learning Disabilities

Category 2 – Physical or Sensory Disabilities

Routines

Each person will compete in 2 routines of 10 skills.

Scoring

No Time of Flight score.

Novice

This is a mixed gender event.

First:

At least 5 different skills from the British Gymnastics Trampoline Proficiency Scheme.

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit 1.2. Harder routines will be stopped.

Difficulty won’t be added to the first routine score.

Second:

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit of 1.6.

Intermediate

This is a mixed gender event.

First:

Minimum total difficulty of 0.8.

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

Difficulty won’t be added to the first routine score.

Second:

No skill harder than 0.6.

No skill more than 360° of rotation.

No more than 4 skills, more than 270° of rotation.

Difficulty limit of 3.0.

Elite

First:

At least 4 different skills with
a minimum of 360° rotation.

Second:

No difficulty limit.

Coaches must be qualified
for the skills.

Coaches, Judges and Officials

Gymnasts must have a qualified coach or teacher with them.

Judges and Officials must be offered over 3 gymnast entries per coach.
