Homepage
This dashboard can be used to get an overview.
Using the dataview and metadata menu plugins.
By narrowing to headings, you can specify parts of a query file.
Use dataview queries to show multiple results in one view.
I like a 3 x 3 grid for this.
Metadata menu class icons give property edit options, which appear in the dataview queries.
Coloured groups bring attention to specific query cards.
Media
Media include books, movies, series and a variety of other options.
Using the book search or Media DB plugins to bring information into Obsidian.
Group status and priority information is then changed – again with metadata menu.
Group colours can be specifically added to priority or status properties.
Research
Having an overview of concepts, topics and areas helps me visualize my research interests.
Linking concepts in the canvas makes the relations much easier to manage.
Groups for broad areas.
Group links for related fields.
Direct links for connected concepts.
Writing
Using overview file cards at the top for section notes.
Chapter queries help me see what I still need to start work on.
The chapter grid gives me an overview of where each chapter is in the writing process.
Status and Priority again altered with the metadata menu plugin.
Links between chapters inputting the flow of chapters – before and after.
Mindmap
Traditional mind mapping can be done in various ways.
I have a key card, often in purple, to remind me what the coloured cards mean.
The key I often use:
- Red – Topic
- Blue – Key term
- Yellow – Research
- Orange – Question
- Green – Claim
While thinking through a topic or concept, cards are added.
When I am at a point where I want to act on my thinking, I add research files.
