Whistleblowing

Whistle blowing

A complaint about behaviour by someone who wasn’t impacted by the behaviour.

The whistleblower’s identity will remain confidential where possible.

No person who reports a concern in good faith should be subject to consequences.

People who intentionally make false complaints may face consequences.

Reporting serious concerns of public interest may include:

  • Criminal activity

  • Child protection or safeguarding risks

  • Unsafe coaching practices

  • Fraud, theft, or misuse of club funds

  • Discrimination, bullying, or harassment

  • Breaches of club policies or the law

Personal grievances should be dealt with through our complaints and appeals process.

How to rasie a concern

All concerns should be reported in good faith.

  • Speak to a Welfare officer
  • If the concern involves a Welfare officer, contact a different Welfare officer or the club chairperson.
  • Concerns can be raised in writing, by email or in person.
  • You don’t have to prove wrongdoing, but you must have a reasonable belief that it is happening or likely to happen.

All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly.

You will be told of the investigation outcome.

If the matter is serious or criminal, external agencies may be involved.

For example, the police, safeguarding boards or British Gymnastics.
